We are passionate about the built environment and strive to be involved in projects for the long haul and to build lasting relationships with clients. We have vast experience working on all forms of residential architecture projects from new-build housing schemes to renovation/conversions of existing buildings for residential use.
Visionary design and innovation are coupled with an intuitive understanding of space, and how people respond to the environment around them, with stunning results. Our residential projects allow us to express our more creative design abilities, producing high quality architecture that aids in defining the Northern landscape.
Award-winning project Spire View, Humbledon Hill, Sunderland created 8 unique dwellings, boasting breathtaking views of Sunderland, including the Northern Spire bridge, the city’s new landmark. The contemporary design has industrial metal features which fuse seamlessly with natural stone walls and stunning wood detailing. The development won the Insider Proper Award for North East Residential Development of the Year.
Ashburne House is Grade II listed, large classical villa by an unidentified Architect. Originally built for Edward Backhouse, of the family banking firm of Backhouse & Co, in about 1819-22. The property was set in ornamental grounds on the original outskirts of Sunderland. We recently received planning approval and Listed Building Consent for the re-development. BDN are providing full architectural and structural services for the proposals, which include the renovation of Ashburne House and the introduction of a further 6 dwellings.
