AWARD-WINNING Architects and Engineering practice has made a new hire to strengthen architecture department.
Sunderland and Ulverston based Architects and Engineers, Building Design Northern (BDN), has hired Darren Breslin as Architect. Darren, who studied at Belfast Ulster University and later moved to Newcastle for his postgraduate studies, has joined BDN from another leading North East practice. The chartered architect has spent four years assisting and project managing mixed-use masterplans as well as residential and commercial schemes.
Joining the 24-strong team, Darren will work on a number of significant projects for BDN, including the development of designs for the hotly anticipated new food, drink and leisure venue at Sheepfolds.
Building Design Northern deliver Architecture, Civil and Structural Engineering services to clients across the UK, and are the firm behind significant developments in Sunderland, including the £1m renovation of The Old School, Simpson Street, which now houses eight-luxury loft apartments alongside BDN’s head office.

The northern firm has seen rapid expansion in the last 24 months, growing from a team of 11 to 24, with Faye Sedgewick having recently been recruited, through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Northumbria University.
