Our team of Civil Engineers are ICE & IStructE Chartered Members. We have a broad and diverse Civil Engineering capability, having worked on schemes ranging from large residential developments to major commercial distribution projects.

Working with both private clients, contractors and public bodies such as, Universities and Schools, our Civil Engineering department excel at maintaining relationships with our clients. Consequently, most of our workload is through repeat business and recommendation. BDN specialise in delivering the best value engineering solutions on sites to offer commercially viable solutions, while also working to address planning requirements and the client’s needs.

Working with other consulting divisions and our consultant and contractor partners, BDN provide developers with practical consultancy advice for a wide range of infrastructure and enabling works, including:

  • Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Mitigation Strategies
  • Surface Water Drainage Strategy
  • Foul, Sewage and Utilities Assessment
  • Advice on Sustainable Urban Drainage Techniques and incorporation of treatment components
  • On-site and off-site Highways Designs, including junction alterations, highway improvement works and pavement construction
  • Design and negotiations of Section 104, 278 and 38 legal agreements, sewer requisitions and diversions
  • Cut and Fill Analysis
  • Assessing Finished Floor Levels and External Works

Our Civil Engineering involvement often commences with supporting clients with their feasibility studies, and understanding constraints in the further development of the site, though the wider planning process.

BDN are often novated to the contractor following a successful planning application to act as the engineering consultant to deliver on design and build schemes and ensure that all appropriate design measures are taken.

Utilising the most current advances in engineering technology, both Civils 3D and MicroDrainage modelling and analysis software, enable road pavement and drainage designs to be tailored, using alternative methods of construction, to suit each various site conditions. BDN can provide clients with an improved understanding of the relationships between disciplines, preventing co-ordination issues during the construction phase.
