We have submitted proposals for a new £10m industrial development in Sunderland, located on Commercial Road in Hendon.
Led by Promenade Park Properties and designed by BDN’s Architects and Engineers, the proposed industrial park consists of a cluster of 19 industrial units of varying sizes. Alongside the commercial units, a drive-through coffee shop is proposed, as well as major improvements to the streetscape surrounding the site. Each unit, which range from 3,500 to 20,000 sq. ft., has a designated proportion of office space for back-office staff.
The units are designed to be as energy efficient as possible, with provisions also made for an 18-space electric vehicle charging station, to support Sunderland’s transition to cleaner, greener cars.
Proposals have been submitted to Sunderland City Council’s planning authority in June 2023. If proposals are approved, it is expected work could start on site in spring 2024, with the first phase of units ready by the end of the year. They will be offered for sale or rent.
