Fawn’s Keep

South of Windermere, nestled within the ancient woodland of the Lake District National Park is the bespoke residential dwelling, Fawns Keep. It is a contemporary, single-storey extension and renovation project, utilising a mix of traditional and modern, yet natural materials, in-keeping with the National Park’s unique vernacular. The design and orientation of the extension maximises on the site’s complex topography and beautiful natural views.

Restricting the flat, wildflower roof extension to single-storey ensured the impact on site is mitigated for neighbouring residents, as well as maintaining the balance between the building and landscape.

The interior design looked to bring the stone and timber aesthetic within, emphasising the distinction between the existing building and the new extension, as well as framing the transition between the two. This leads into a bright, open plan living space, finished with a stunning blend of farmhouse and Scandi styles, both popular and fitting choices for the Lake District.
