Leisure Architecture
Building Design Northern were appointed to provide Architectural services to Peterlee and Horden RFC, to design a contemporary extension to their existing club facilities.
The design proposals will enable the continued and improved use of the clubhouse for Peterlee and Horden RFC, as well as other community groups, as an integral part of the Eden Hill area of Peterlee. The proposals will create additional leisure and entertainment space for the sports venue, including the creation of a new entrance, an open plan multi-purpose space, a kitchen, sun terrace and internal modifications of the existing building.
The plans draw upon contemporary styles, and utilise modern building methods, to create a stark contrast to the existing building, taking influence from light and dark tones, to establish a pavilion in a landscape setting.
The proposals will also improve the existing facilities that are currently offered by the club, allowing for more frequent use of the resources, and for the capacity to host a wider variety of community events.
Rendered images, created in-house by BDN Architects, display the proposals which were granted planning approval by Durham County Council in July 2022.
