Residential Architecture
Fawns Keep is an extension and renovation to an existing residential dwelling near Windermere. It is a modern, single-storey building in-keeping with the National Park’s vernacular, maximising on the site’s complex topography and natural views.
Restricting the proposed flat, wildflower roof extension to single storey ensured the impact on site is mitigated for neighbouring residents, as well as maintaining the balance between the building and landscape.
The concept utilised natural, locally sourced Burlington stone- a prevalent construction material within the Lakes, as well as vertical charred timber cladding that provides a unique appearance, weatherproofing, and effective ties with natural stone and slate.
